Paps, Claps and ‘Car’aoke

Back to our Going Social roots again this month. Now that the dust has settled on Freshers Week 2017 we’ve taken a look at some of our favourite ways that universities used social media to go the extra mile for their newbies.

We really enjoyed Loughborough University’s use of Snapchat to help new students find their bearings around campus. Fresher's ‘essentials bundle’ prizes were up for grabs for the best paparazzi pics of Loughborough legends Seb Coe and the elusive university resident, Charlie the cat.

We were also impressed with many of the vlogs that Nottingham University pulled together to give the low down on all the basics to help freshers settle in, work hard, play hard and party till dawn.  

Still with Nottingham, we loved the University’s musical theatre group's Facebook offer of ‘Campus Car-Aoke’.   The only thing missing was James Corden.

Hats off too to Leeds Beckett who used Thunderclap to keep in touch with its Freshers and achieved a massive reach of 215,000 people as a result. 

Finally, top marks also to all universities across the country that heavily promoted the massively successful #GiveItAGo campaign encouraging students to volunteer or try out a new activity.

Only eight weeks now 'til the Xmas festivities need to begin!
